And another thing!

The Party’s view on sex reminds me so much of the ultra conservative Christians who think that sex is only for reproduction. There are many things I’m passionate about, and that is one attitude I passionately hate. It’s not Biblical, its just human formed religion that teaches that God wants to remove every ounce of joy and pleasure from your life (which is ironic, considering that his basic characteristics are unconditional love and a joy that goes beyond shallow happiness). Its that ascetic mindset that I loathe, and its one that has polluted Christian thought for generations, teaching that sexual desire and pleasure even in the context of marriage is wrong (which is not true in the slightest). There is a big difference between true holiness and piety that claims that all earthly pleasure are evil. In the Christian worldview, God created all we see in this universe. That also means, logically, that he created things that would be enjoyable to his creation, sex being the obvious example here. The issue is not with the drive or the feeling, its with the context of it, which is what God laid a standard for. Not only with sexuality, but also with food (gluttony), alcohol (moderation), and things of that nature. Not because he’s cruel, but because too much of any of those things will destroy you. The problem is that Christians get too extreme in the desire to purge themselves of all the so called “evil” that comes from something that is inherently neutral. I hear it all the damn time, and it irks me to no end. Like that ignorant fellow a few years back who said that birth control in marriage was evil and that I was “called to singleness” simply because I may not want children in the future. I can’t control what other Christians believe, but sometimes I wish I could…xD at least I can control my own beliefs. That’s the important thing. As my great grandpa always quoted, work out your OWN salvation with fear and trembling!
